Morphettville - 01 November 2025
There is some terrific racing around the country this weekend, with the Victorian Derby and Coolmore Stud Stakes the highlights in Melbourne, whilst the Golden Eagle is on in Sydney. Morphettville will support those meetings with a competitive ten race card, which is sure to throw up some nice winners.

Best Bet
Race 3 #5 Zebella ($3.45) - Comes out of a hot form race 35 days ago, going down narrowly to Ndola, who had since won a BM84 race at Caulfield. Two other horses that finished in behind her have also come out and won in easier races. She has since trialled up well enough, and should get a suck run in behind from barrier three, especially with very little weight on her back. She gets in well here.

Race 5 #8 Flaming Navy ($2.50) - I didn’t like this bloke last weekend, but circumstances have changed, and now he goes straight to the top. He was a winner by 6.7 lengths last time out at Balaklava, and has been a different horse since the blinkers went on. 1800m is a query, but he gets in well at the weights against those who might be suspect at 1800m, early in their preparations, or even don’t rate up to him. Even with a regression, he should still be too good.
Value Bet
Race 9 #1 Vintage Star ($14.00) - Keeping the same write-up from last week. For a horse that is 5/16 in his career, he is really rocks or diamonds. Ran fourth first-up at Murray Bridge, just grinding away to run a nice figure. His second-up profile isn’t too bad, and he has drawn the inside, which should give him the ideal map. I have the top five in the market separated by 1.5 lengths; his price is pretty good to take a stab at.

The Bubble Burster - Horse That Won’t Win (Favourite to Get Beat)
Race 7 #10 Pelevecchio ($2.75) - Happy to bet against this daughter of Castelvecchio following two placings as favourite over her last two. Truly thought last time out was her race for the taking at $1.90, but she couldn’t get it done. I have just over 2.5 lengths separating 9 of these 12 runners on my figures, I am happy to side against her.
Sink or Swim - Horse on Last Chance
Race 4 #2 The Mansman ($3.00) - Whether I back this bloke or not, he is surely on his last chance. After placing his last three races, which were all winnable, you would think he is under the pump to secure a win here. He has only won three from twenty-three, so something has to give at some point.

R1 #5 Regal Award ($2.05) - With the scratching of Vinrock, this is his for the taking. His 7.5 length win last start is not a run to take lightly, and he has drawn well enough to take this race by the scruff of the neck once again.
R9 #5 Stretan Angel ($10.20) - Finally broke through for the first time since 2023 after promising so much for so long. Straight track form is better than average, and that last run will give her confidence. Place chance.

R3 #8 Watchme Win ($11.00) - Came out slow and was stuck in going that wasn’t the best on straight track debut. He will be better off for the run and is definitely a place chance.
R4 #3 Freedom Flame ($8.00) - Meets a good one here, and despite a good win in the Hill Smith Stakes, she is fighting for a place here.

Race 9 #7 Prairie Flower ($17.00) - Hasn’t shown a lot this preparation, and she has promised to break through in a race for some time now. Her trial since last start was very good, though her straight track runs have only been fair.
